In the American Le Mans Series (ALMS), as in all racing, the podium belongs to the first to cross the finish line. In keeping with this quicker-is-better philosophy, BMW Rahal Letterman Racing Team - winner of the 2010 ALMS GT Manufacturer and Team Championships - has shortened its name to "BMW Team RLR."
To stay on top this season, BMW Team RLR has other changes in the works, as well:
Two new BMW M3 GT racecars have been constructed for returning drivers Bill Auberlen, Joey Hand, and Dirk Mueller.
A new talent joins the Team: BMW Motorsport driver Dirk Werner, who co-drove with Auberlen in 2010 at the 12 Hours of Sebring and the Petit Le Mans.
Larry Koch replaces Martin Birkmann as BMW of North America Motorsport Manager. Koch brings a genuine love of high-performance racing to the job, along with an extensive degree of product knowledge.
The 2011 ALMS season starts with the 12 Hours of Sebring on Saturday, March 19, broadcast on SPEED TV. Check your local listings for race time.
